What problem needed to be solved?
As part of our quarterly project in the "Time Based Media 4" course, the challenge was to create an independent video sequence with audio that represents the content and formal aesthetics of a poem with a moving image. The project was to focus on the city of Basel and its external and inconspicuous life. In addition, I had to ensure that the publishing rights were available for all audio and image elements used in order to avoid copyright infringements.
Another specific problem arose when the poem I had written myself turned out not to be ideal for the planned clip. This required me to do more thorough research to find suitable poems. I also had difficulties handling the camera during filming as I had little experience in this area.

How was the problem solved?
To solve the main problem, I follow a clear and structured approach that was given to us in the course. This includes the phases of research, topic selection, studio recording, audio and video production, and post-production. The detailed schedule and specific learning objectives help me to plan and execute my project effectively.
For the poem problem, after consulting with my lecturers, I decided to research old poems that might be more relevant to the topic of my clip. After a thorough search and analysis, I finally decided on a poem that reflected the topic well.
During filming, I use the time to optimize the camera settings and find suitable perspectives. Despite my initial uncertainty in handling the camera, this targeted preparation and cooperation with the skaters, who were willing to be filmed, allowed me to gain valuable experience and take better shots.

What is better than the beginning?
At the end of the project, I acquired extensive skills in producing video sequences with audio. This includes using the video software Adobe Premiere and After Effects, developing storyboards and conducting voice recordings. I learned how to achieve a wide variety of moving images and integrate them effectively into the design of graphics.
By doing additional research into poems and choosing a poem that was thematically appropriate, I was able to create an aesthetically pleasing video. Despite initial difficulties during filming, I was able to achieve better results through targeted preparation and practical experience. The finished clip now shows the diversity and attractiveness of the skate park and the skate scene and thus fulfills the main goal of my project.

Dokumentation

Herausforderung:

Verbesserungen:

Ich erwarb Fähigkeiten in Adobe Premiere, After Effects und Photoshop. Das finale Video zeigt die Vielfalt des Skaterparks und erfüllt die Projektziele.
